12KBW is delighted that Harry Steinberg QC has been named Personal Injury Silk of the year in the 2017 Chambers UK Bar Awards at the Park Lane Hilton on 26 October.

 

Harry took silk in 2016 and is a tier 1 silk in environmental, civil liberties and human rights claims, as well as being a well-established name in the personal injury and industrial injuries fields. He has become a go-to silk for cases which cross the boundaries between personal injury and disease, human rights, conflict of laws and civil liberties.

 

Harry’s recent career highlights include:

  • Acting in the Supreme Court cases of Knauer v Ministry of Justice (changing the law on the calculation of multipliers for future losses) and Coventry v Lawrence (fundamental changes to the law of negligence)
  • Appearing at the High Court and Court of Appeal in Greenway v Johnson Matthey plc, which is to be heard in the Supreme Court
  • Leading in Vilca v Xstrata Plc & Xstrata Tintaya (named one of The Lawyer’s top 20 cases of 2016), where 22 Peruvian environmental protestors have brought claims for injuries and mistreatment during demonstrations at an Andean copper mine
  • Appearing in the Bodo Community litigation, a case involving the liability of an oil company for polluting the Niger Delta in Nigeria
