Jeremy McKeown
Jeremy has worked on a range of Employment Tribunal and High Court employment matters for both claimants and defendants, including restrictive covenant, confidential information, bonus, and severance claims and has been frequently involved in interim applications for injunctive relief.
He has experience in the preparatory and final hearing stages across the full range of statutory employment claims, including experience in unfair dismissal, sex, race and disability discrimination and discrimination by association, harassment and victimisation, whistleblowing and TUPE, namely drafting pleadings, skeleton arguments and closing submissions, and trial preparation, including extensive expertise in bundle preparation and client-care. He has a good working knowledge of the Employment Tribunal both in and outside London.
Jeremy has substantial experience in High Court employment practice, in particular injunctive relief relating to breach of confidence and post-termination restrictions, including non-solicitation, non-poaching and non-compete provisions. He has assisted in drafting submissions to the High Court, Employment Appeal Tribunal and Court of Appeal.
With a view to the smoother conduct of the litigation process, Jeremy spent some time helping an Employment department develop and launch a tailored litigation management platform using HighQ technology.

Joel regularly appears in the Employment Appeal Tribunal, and had acted in many high profile cases on behalf of both Claimants and Respondents. He has extensive experience of multi-day complex cases in the tribunals.
A major part of his practice over the past 18 months has comprised the representation of the successful Claimant in Heslop v Oxford Said Business School Ltd, one of the largest whistleblowing claims of recent years. Following appearances for the Claimant on his own account in the employment tribunal at both the liability and remedy hearings, the claim was settled on a confidential basis subsequent to further success for the Claimant in the EAT where Joel was led by Jane Mulcahy QC – see “Cases”.
Other EAT appearances over the past few years include acting on a pro bono basis for the Appellant in Enamejewa v British Gas Trading Ltd (strike out) and representing the Appellant in G4S Cash Solutions (UK) Ltd v Powell (reasonable adjustments) – see “Cases”.
Joel has wide experience in all types of discrimination work (including harassment), cases involving TUPE, collective and individual redundancies, protected disclosure, working time cases, agency workers, breach of confidence and, of course, unfair dismissal.
He is a member of the EAT’s ELAAS scheme.

Simon has wide-ranging experience in employment law and regularly appears in the ET as well as having EAT and High Court experience. He appears throughout the tribunals of England and Wales as well as in Scotland. He represents both Claimants and Respondents and regularly represents Local Authorities and Police Authorities, as well as commercial employers. Simon also represents Union-backed Claimants and private individuals from worker to director level. He is experienced in all of the prohibited grounds of discrimination case, redundancy, wage claims, unfair dismissal, whistle-blowing claims, TUPE and bonus cases.
Simon is also experienced in drafting and representation in fitness to practice proceedings involving nurses before the Nursing and Midwifery Council, including consideration of appeals and reviews as well as advice and representation at Police Misconduct Hearings.
Simon has recently successfully represented a Claimant and achieved a high six figure award in a Discrimination claim at ET (and EAT); achieved a six figure award in a complex PHI claim (and with a likely reportable anticipated EAT awaited); advised on difficult issues involving the potential transfer of dozens of local authority staff, and a complex transfer of local authority/police/private charity service provision and has recently represented a high-profile Professor in an internal University appeal, a re-structuring company in dispute with one of its directors, and various cases involving significant sexual and other discriminatory allegations in the workplace.
