It is with the greatest sadness that we announce the death of our dear friend and colleague, Ronald Walker KC, who passed away yesterday after an illness.
Ronnie was called to the Bar in 1962 and joined 12KBW in 1968 having previously been a law lecturer and the author of ‘The English Legal System’ by Walker and Walker, the standard university textbook of its day.
He took silk in 1983 at the age of 43 and served as our Head of Chambers from 1988 to 1998. Remarkably, such was his love of the law and these chambers, Ronnie continued to practise right up until his death – an astonishing 40 years in silk.
Ronnie was a brilliant advocate with a quick wit, a dazzling intellect, and such a profound understanding of the law that he was at home in the highest appellate courts, appearing in a plethora of the leading cases in his fields of practice.
Ronnie was an inspiration and a compassionate mentor for a long line of barristers at 12, always sparing the time to help others. He was a huge presence in our lives and leaves a void that cannot be filled.
Our deepest condolences to his family.
