On 4th September 2024, His Majesty The King appointed Craig to the rank and dignity of King’s Counsel in Scotland on the recommendation of the Scottish First Minister, John Swinney.

The rank of King’s Counsel is generally reserved for those who have distinguished themselves in practice in the Supreme Courts of Scotland. Advocates and Solicitors with Rights of Audience in the Supreme Courts are eligible to apply to the Lord Justice General, Scotland’s senior judge. Before making nominations to the First Minister, the Lord Justice General consults other judges, the Lord Advocate, the Dean of the Faculty of Advocates and the President of the Law Society of Scotland.

Craig Murray specialises in complex and high value cases involving personal injury, historic abuse, industrial disease and clinical negligence. He has a particular specialism in cross-border issues.

Craig has recently returned to private practise in England and Scotland after a 3-year appointment as Crown Counsel, prosecuting serious crime in the High Court of Justiciary.

Craig is ranked as a leading Advocate in Personal Injury by Chambers & Partners and The Legal 500.

Craig will continue to practise in England at the junior bar.
